9:1 Unun

Posted <2019-06-10 Mon 19:17> by Aaron S. Jackson.

I recently obtained my first HF rig - a Yaesu FT-450D which I purchased second hand online from Radio World. Getting an antenna sorted for this is either more expensive or slightly more complicated than it is for a VHF or UHF radio. I opted for the slightly more complicated approach and built a 9:1 unun (unbalanced-unbalanced impedance matcher). It's "housed" in a DLT4 tape cartridge case. It's not waterproof and it contains a fair amount of hot glue.
